The third restaurant-concessionaire to join Tagaytay Highlands formally opened its location on August 3, 2019. Brera Delicatessen now occupies Marbella at the second floor of the Highlands Golf Club.
The evening affair was attended by over a hundred members and VIPs. It was a fun and laid-back night of socials and sumptuous cocktail-dinner. The finest wines from its new cellar were also served.
“We’re happy to welcome Brera Delicatessen to our growing family,” said Club Founder Willy N. Ocier during the Ceremonial Blessing and Opening. “The restaurant can bring so much to the delight of our members, especially those who are always looking for good food whenever they visit the Club.”
Brera
Brera Delicatessen co-owner Sinan Batur also expressed excitement for the opening of this new location, which will be the third of the restaurant. He promised to bring about good service to complement the European Mediterranean dishes that are part of their menu.
Brera Delicatessen is a restaurant named after Brera, the famous district in Milan, Italy—best known for its food and wine. The setup is also inspired by the Italian mercato, a place to buy and enjoy great cheese, bread, cold cuts, wine, and charcuterie in a casual setting.
However, unlike most charcuterie restaurants, Brera Delicatessen allows diners to have a deli experience by doing turo-turo the Italian way. Often associated with carinderias, turo-turo is a mode of food selection characterized by pointing a food item or two from a wide variety of dishes. The food selected will then be piled onto your plate to be served to you by the person behind the glass display. Quick and straightforward. However, while the concept of turo-turo was mostly confined to roadside eateries and carinderia, Brera Delicatessen decided to incorporate the ingenious concept into their chain’s restaurant experience.
In lieu of the rice and viand, however, you get to choose from an array of charcuterie, imported cheese, and wine. Do not let the food intimidate you, however, as Brera Delicatessen prides itself on being a casual restaurant. While many are quick to assume that the Italian place markets itself as a fine dining restaurant, its approach is rather casual, inspired by Alimentari or Italian market-style dining–turo-turo in Filipino layman’s terms. Apart from deli goods, Brera Delicatessen also offers a wide variety of premium Italian ingredients such as pasta, canned food, cheese, wine, hams, and sausages.
It also showcases a selection of cold cuts, cheeses, and other gourmet items from Europe With the chain’s wide selection of Italian products, Brera Delicatessen is easily the go-to place for those who wish to fill up their supply of hams and cheese. Diners who wish to stay over, however, would find that Brera Delicatessen also has a dedicated menu of assorted hams, cheeses, sandwiches, and steaks. Patrons who wish to sample only Italy’s very best should try Brera Delicatessen’s very own Assorted Italian Platter which consists of Italy’s best variety of ham and cheese.
It includes slices of Mortadella, Salami, Prosciutto and three kinds of Italian cheese served with olives, bread, and fruits on the side. Diners who wish to have a healthier and greener option might want to sample the chain’s famous Perra Serrano, a bowl of fresh romaine lettuce with poached pear, Iberian Jamon Serrano, olives, onion balsamic glazed nuts dressed in Brera’s creamy Italian sauce, and home-made zesty lemon vinaigrette. However, those who do not wish to dine in can simply stop by for a hot cup of Cafe Latte with the eponymous shop’s name on the coffee foam in the afternoons.
Brera Delicatessen operates from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. during Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays. Members and guests can opt to dine in or takeout deli food.
