Tagaytay Highlands, along with other companies under the SM Group, joined the rest of the country in observing the 121st National Flag Day on May 28, 2019. The day’s highlight was the flag ceremony, which was facilitated at exactly 8 a.m., spearheaded by the Security Team—headed by Ret. Gen. Romeo Taguinod.
More than 300 employees of the Club participated in the activity. The ceremony started with the singing of the National Anthem while the National Flag was being raised by members of the Security Team. An oath to the flag followed.
The National Flag Day is the start of the celebration of the country’s Independence Day, which is observed every 12th of June. The day commemorates the first time the flag was raised on May 28, 1898, when Filipino revolutionaries defeated Spanish troops in the Battle of Alapan in Cavite.
